2018 was an amazing year for Bollywood. Like every year, hundreds of movies released and entertained us. There were a few magnanimous releases like Padmaavat and Thugs of Hindostan that took filmmaking to another level and some excellent scripts like Andhadhun, Stree, and Raazi, that changed the way mid-level movies were perceived. The next year also has a lot of movies that are going to impress you with the scripts, performances, masala, and of course the grandeur. Out of all the movies lined-up, we’ve predicted the blockbusters of each month. Check below:

January: Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi

The first month of the year has movies like The Accidental Prime Minister, Thackarey, Super 30, and Cheat India releasing one after the other. However, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi has everything that a blockbuster needs – a good actor, a cannot-go-wrong-with-it script, and the much-needed hype.

February: Gully Boy

Based on the life of rappers Divine and Naezy, Gully Boy is not your typical Bollywood story. Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, the atypical movie also has a brand new jodi which the entire industry is waiting for. We feel that this February, the nation will fall in love with Ranveer and Alia once again because of Gully Boy.

March: Kesari

Another gem coming from the Khiladi Kumar, this one revolves around the story of Havildar Ishar Singh who participated in the Battle of Saragrahi and yearns for the respect of his estranged daughter. Kesari will battle with Rajkummar Rao’s Mental Hai Kya at the box office, but our bet is on the former.

April: Kalank

Karan Johar’s 15-year-old dream project, Kalank is a mega multi-starrer featuring Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Kunal Khemu, and more. It is a formula project that is sure to set the box office on fire.

May: Student of The Year 2

Like the first installment of Student of The Year, we have our hopes high for the sequel. Starring Tiger Shroff, SOTY2 marks the debut of Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday.

June: Bharat

In the month of a Bhai release, the selection of the blockbuster becomes fairly easier. Bharat has been in news from the announcement of the movie and marks the unison of the hit jodi of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. Need we say more?

July: Good News

Yes, that’s also the name of the movie we are vouching for in July. Bringing back the super hit pair of Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan, Good News might get a huge collection for the production house. The movie also stars Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh.

August: ’83

A movie that will unite the two biggest religions of India – Bollywood and cricket – ’83 will tell us the incredible story of India’s 1983 Cricket World Cup victory. Ranveer Singh will play the role of star cricketer Kapil Dev in the movie and we believe this one will rule the theatres in August 2019.

September: Bala

Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar have united for their third movie together and we are more than excited. After the success of Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, we can quite predict the impact of this one on the box-office.

October: Untitled YRF Film

From the day it was announced that Tiger Shroff and Hrithik Roshan are coming together for a movie, we knew that it is going to be a hit. Both the actors are amazing dancers and action heroes. Getting them together is a guaranteed formula for a blockbuster, trust us on this one!

November: Taanaji – The Unsung Warrior

Ajay Devgn‘s magnum opus, based on the life of Maharashtrian Koli military leader Tanaji Malusare, is the one we think will rake in all the moolah in November. The movie not only stars Devgn himself, but it also marks the comeback of Kajol and Ajay’s real jodi on the screen after eight long years.

December: Brahmastra/Panipat

While we are pretty sure about our picks each month, December has got us in a really tough position with Amitabh Bachchan‘s Brahmastra and Ashutosh Gowarikar‘s Panipat releasing within two weeks. So, we leave it up to you to decide.

We will be updating our verdict if we come across other movies that have the potential to make an impact. So, keep visiting this space for the latest update on Bollywood blockbusters.
