When love turns into a live-in relationship, things start to get really complicated. At least that’s what Kartik Aaryan‘s latest film proposes. Starring alongside Kriti Sanon for the first time ever, Aaryan will play a local TV reporter who gets caught up in an interesting situation with his headstrong girlfriend and their families in Luka Chuppi.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan, Luka Chuppi is a romantic comedy that is set in Mathura and also in Gwalior and Agra. As the star reporter of a local TV channel, Kartik plays the quintessential good boy that every girl wants to take home to their mothers. Kriti, on the other hand, is the confident and tenacious girl from Mathura who advocates gender equality and sticks to her own ideology.

Speaking about what prompted him to pick Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon as his lead pair, Dinesh Vijan said, “The dialogues have a touch of the local dialect and being from the region, both are familiar with the setting and the lingo. They also have crackling chemistry.

As soon as the trailer of Luka Chuppi hit the internet, fans were more than excited to catch this progressive love story with a generous dose of small-town humor in cinemas. The film features Kartik Aaryan as Guddu who is inspired by Bollywood’s wedding season and decides to propose to Kriti Sanon’s Rashmi. The tables quickly flip when Rashmi decides to be progressive and opts for a live-in relationship instead of marriage. What follows is the hilarious drama of what to do and what not to do when their families get involved.

Luka Chuppi is also director Laxman Utekar‘s first Bollywood project. We earlier saw his work as the Director of Photography for Irrfan Khan‘s 2017 film Hindi Medium, while he also directed two Marathi films – Lalbaugchi Rani and Tapaal.

As Kriti Sanon joins other Bollywood projects like Ashutosh Gowariker‘s Panipat and the Dharma Productions film Kalank, Kartik has also been reportedly been approached for Pyaar Ka Punchnama 3.

However, before all of that, they will come together in Luka Chuppi as it releases on the 1st of March this year. Stay tuned to this space to check out our review of the film!
